The event marked an important milestone for the ADMIRAL initiative, which aims to transform supply chain management by enabling companies to make more informed logistics decisions based on emissions, cost, and delivery time.

Addressing Emissions in Freight Transport

Freight transport is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions across Europe. The ADMIRAL project focuses on tackling this challenge by improving transparency and collaboration across supply chains and enabling companies to better understand and reduce emissions generated by logistics services.

Through innovative digital solutions and cooperation between industry and research partners, the project promotes more efficient logistics processes and supports the transition toward low-emission multimodal transport networks.

Demonstrating Low-Emission Logistics Pilots

A key highlight of the event was the presentation of four European pilot projects implemented in different regions:

  • Finland

  • Lithuania

  • Portugal–Spain

  • Slovenia–Croatia

These pilots tested practical solutions for optimizing logistics operations, improving data sharing, and reducing emissions across the supply chain. By applying digital tools and collaborative approaches, the pilots demonstrated how companies can improve efficiency while advancing sustainability goals.

Spotlight on the Lithuanian Pilot

One of the most notable highlights of the final event was the presentation of the Lithuanian pilot, which demonstrated how digitalisation and improved documentation processes can contribute to more efficient and sustainable logistics operations.

The Lithuanian pilot focused on implementing electronic transport documents (eCMR) and testing digital solutions that streamline logistics processes between transport partners. By replacing traditional paper-based documentation with digital workflows, the pilot helped:

  • improve efficiency and transparency across logistics operations

  • reduce administrative workload and processing time

  • support more accurate tracking of transport activities

  • contribute to lower emissions through optimized processes

The pilot provided valuable insights into how digital logistics tools can help companies simplify operations while supporting sustainability goals.

The ADMIRAL Digital Marketplace

Another major outcome presented during the event was the ADMIRAL digital marketplace, a platform designed to support more sustainable supply chain decisions.

The marketplace allows companies to:

  • Compare logistics services based on CO₂ emissions, cost, and delivery time

  • Identify more sustainable transport options

  • Improve collaboration between supply chain actors

  • Increase transparency across multimodal transport operations

By enabling data-driven decision-making, the platform helps companies optimize logistics networks and reduce environmental impact.

Collaboration for a Greener Logistics Sector

The ADMIRAL Final Event also featured policy perspectives, expert discussions, and insights from industry stakeholders on the future of European logistics. Participants explored how digitalization, innovation, and collaboration can support the transition toward more resilient, transparent, and sustainable supply chains.

The event highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between industry, policymakers, and technology providers to accelerate the decarbonisation of freight transport and strengthen Europe’s logistics ecosystem.
