Cargo Sign product owner Simonas Niedvaras predicts that eCMR might be used to report scope3 CO2 emissions. It contains most of the necessary data in its dataset to calculate Scope 3 research shows. Originally the idea to print CO2 emission on eCMR was proposed by Ieva Markucevičiūtė-Vinckė from NORMALIS TECH. The CO2 footprint could be shared through eFTI platforms along with eCMR data, providing a possibility for all parties—government, suppliers, and transport companies—to have direct access to retrieve this information at any time.

Governments are likely to adopt the ISO14083, DIN EN 16258, GHG Protocol for Calculating Scope 3 Emissions (version 1.0) and GLEC methodology for reporting CO2. Annual reporting is mandated in both governmental requirements and ISO/GLEC standards. eCMR with CO2 footprint archiving offers a pragmatic solution for reporting. The reporting company will have the ability to generate a Scope 3 report from the eCMR archive with just a few button clicks, saving a significant amount of effort and time.

Simultaneously, the transport company will have an opportunity to derive its CO2 emission coefficient, likely to be used in bidding for transport tenders in freight exchange platforms. Cargo Sign covers all the mentioned requirements.
